UNDER | HEAVEN is a free 18+ cyberpunk romance visual novel about art, survival, and building a life worth fighting for.
Julian, a janitorial drone operator in the domed city of Megiddo and sometimes-artist in the simulated world of the Exchange, is content with his quiet life. But, his everyday calm is shattered when an old friend believed dead turns up very much alive and missing two years of memory.
Ash had a hard life, even before his present troubles. He ran away from everything and everyone he knew, came to terms with his gender identity and transitioned, and has fought for every inch of survival. Now, he finds himself fighting once more and, this time, he may not be able to prevail on his own.
But even as the pair meet each other anew and grapple with the practical problems of survival and their budding feelings for each other, the mysteries of Ash's past grow more and more dangerous. As the two grow closer in their struggle to save him, they will be drawn into a web of conspiracy that will shake the very foundations of their world.

Hello, just played all four chapters in (mostly) one go! I am holding Julian's head under water until he learns to love himself! Ash is now my son, I will not be taking any questions at this time! I support Lark's rhetorical goals! Alex is on thin ice and I am prepared to murder him in his sleep if needs be! I will not be discussing Amir. There is *nothing* relatable to my disabled, degreed ass about investing heavily in your own economic viability only to have your body break and be suddenly relegated to the heap of society's discards. It's *fine*. I'm *fine*.
Also I may or may not have failed to realize this story was split POV at first and spent the entirety of chapter 1 waiting for Julian to wake up wrapped in a tarp. So there's that.

I remember seeing a youtube video from Marrow on this a few months ago and I was like, huh that looks interesting, gave it a spin, but there was only one chapter at the time. Hadn't been back in a moment... But man, I thought the first chapter was interesting, but I just binged all four in the span of a day. I love the subtle music, I love the way the writing captures awkward talks where things are left unsaid and said the wrong way, and I love the awkward budding realizations of how you feel about another person... This is a really promising one and I'm super excited to keep up with it.
Also, all the art of Ash is adorable. Is it fair to love (one of) the player characters? I want to ruffle his hair.

dear lord I love Amir even more after the latest update
I was kinda skeptical about whether I would be hooked towards this or not as I tend to avoid Visual novels that focus mostly on negatively impacting my mood, but that moment where Ash experiences Julian's world it felt like I was standing right there beside them, and that it made me realize how much I was missing out on myself. Really incredible work.
I'm so glad to hear that you stuck with it and the scene was able to reach you in that way! It's those sorts of moments that are the reason for the project existing and I hope you'll enjoy the story to come.

This looks like an issue unrelated to the game itself, it might be best to try downloading and extracting on just the main drive.
already tried that, based off of reddit comments it looks like windows explorer is having problems with extracting files and to fix it, i just have to use a different software

Ok, I'm definitely in love with Julian, he's such a pure bean who deserves nothing but happiness, and, Ash's story hits so hard, I need everyone in this story to just be happy.

That's weird, that definitely shouldn't be happening. Can you hit shift + g and try some of the other renderer options and see if the problem still exists? It might also be worth moving the game to a folder without strict read/write permissions, like documents or downloads. What platform are you on, and are you able to run other Ren'py games normally? Is there any error message?
This is likely to indicate an issue with the RAM on your computer, I would try to have it independently assessed and see if it's in need of replacement.

So far this is an standout game compared to many of the newer VNs. It has a very interesting concept and immaculate world building setting up for what I can only imagine is a beautiful story. The writing is fantastic and I really enjoy all the character designs and cgs we've seen so far.
SPOLIER FOR BUILD ONE END
I really like how the hook to the story was done, it introduced multiple points of conflict that make the story feel less linear and more like an inter connected world. The seemingly malfunctioning drone that appeared to control itself and the mysterious injured person leave me with many questions I can't wait to get answers to. Over all I really enjoyed the first build and I can tell the love and effort that has gone into this project!

The story is absolutely amazing and has a really unique concept, one of those ideas that I really love. I hope there will be more world-building!
I just wish all the backgrounds were hand-drawn because when the background switches to a real image, it feels a bit immersion-breaking.

First recommendation would be to update your graphics card driver, second would be to hit shift + g as soon as the game opens and force renpy one of the other renderers such as ANGLE.
it didn't work, i though it was my graphics card driver too, since i am using old laptop from 2019 and didn't get any update since 2023, but i play on android now it work perfectly fine. thank you so much it was such an amazing story i really enjoyed it .

I haven't been this impressed by a newer VN like this in a while. Y'all are starting off very strong. Its written so beautifully and feels super deep and hits emotionally hard already. Kinda reminds me of a Black Mirror episode in FVN form and it's so interesting.
I really like the characters too. Lark is so likeable and cozy; as well as Amir, Lark, Alex feeling so unique and comfortable to read.

Really cool premise and world building, the interfacing with drones as a means of dystopian working conditions and risk - exasperated by out of touch corporate managers is so real. Love the diverse cast so far, love the art and sprites, Amir’s expressions are my favorite so far! Music is so great and suits it perfectly.
